Occasionally, patients who have undergone the non-incisional method are dissatisfied with the results or find that the eyelid shape is not what they wanted, leading them to desire a return to their original appearance.

In such cases, we perform suture removal to undo the non-incisional double eyelid.

Suture Removal Method

The surgical procedure is as follows:

Approximately 2 to 3 small holes of about 2mm are made.

Then, using Dr. Choi Dong-il’s unique technique, the sutures are located while minimizing damage to the surrounding tissue.

This is the appearance after the sutures have been extracted. There is almost no bruising.

This shows the area after a single stitch was used for closure. While suturing isn’t strictly necessary, we do it to minimize any potential scarring.

Swelling After Suture Removal

Swelling varies by individual, but in most cases, there is no major swelling, though occasional bruising may occur.

The double eyelid line may still appear to be present for up to a week, but in most cases, it completely fades by the one-month mark.

Looking at the ‘before’ photo, if a person with sagging skin attempts to force a high eyelid line, it can look unnatural. This patient had the sutures removed and then had a new, more natural line created using the non-incisional method.

Important Considerations for Undoing Non-Incisional Surgery

Here are some points to keep in mind regarding suture removal:

1. Since this procedure involves removing the sutures, there is a small possibility the double eyelid line may not fully disappear. However, in most cases, it does.

2. While there is always a possibility that a suture cannot be located, Dr. Choi Dong-il’s extensive experience and unique technique allow for successful removal in almost all cases.

3. Removing buried sutures through tiny holes is not an easy task, so it is highly recommended to seek a surgeon with significant experience.

4. Finally, this type of suture removal is only possible for the ‘single-knot’ non-incisional method.
